The hard magnetic properties of nanocomposite α-Fe/Pr2Fe14B prepared by melt spinning have been investigated. A single magnetic hard phase behavior. can be found in the ribbons prepared by direct melt spinning or subsequent annealing. The mechanical properties and coercivity of ribbons prepared by direct melt spinning are preferable to those by subsequent annealing. A higher coercivity, Hc = 576 kA/m, was obtained in the ribbons prepared by direct melt spinning at an optimal wheel speed.
